What Do Partner Commitments Look Like?
By enrolling in the Monarch CCAA, partners commit to several key actions that support monarch conservation and abide by the terms of the Agreement:
- Implement Conservation Measures. Partners voluntarily carry out conservation actions to “sustain, enhance, and restore” monarch habitat on designated portions of their enrolled lands, known as “adopted acres.” These measures address key threats such as habitat loss and degradation.
- Track and Report Compliance. Partners are responsible for tracking the number of acres where conservation measures are implemented and annually reporting this information to the Program Administrator.
- Conduct Habitat Monitoring. Partners must carry out monitoring to verify that adopted acres are providing suitable monarch habitat and to inform adaptive management.
- Prepare an Implementation Plan. Within one year of enrollment, partners must provide an implementation plan outlining internal roles and responsibilities, and how conservation measures, tracking, and monitoring will be carried out under the program.
- Comply with Applicable Laws and Regulations. Partners must adhere to all terms of the Agreement and their Certificate of Inclusion and comply with applicable state and federal laws.
- Support the Conservation Agreement Program. Partners are required to pay annual administrative fees to support the program’s administration, technical assistance, and reporting requirements.
