TNFD’s data recommendations: Understanding the nature data principles

March 4 @ 6:00 am - 7:00 am CST

In November 2025, the TNFD released its “Recommendations for upgrading the nature data value chain for market participants” after over four years of research, market consultation and piloting. These eight recommendations seek to catalyse a whole-of-value-chain mindset shift about the discoverability, quality and accessibility of nature-related data as a strategic global public good.

The first recommendation lays out the need for a set of nature data principles, which would be used by actors across the nature data value chain, in order to address concerns around data quality and consistency. This webinar will dive into this recommendation, showing how the proposed nature data principles address key data challenges identified throughout the TNFD’s engagement with the market. We will explore some of the findings from pilot testing and what this means for the market, as well as other recommended next steps and implementation of the nature data principles.
