SUMMARY:ROWHWG Webinar: Pollinator Habitat In Practice- Using IVM to Enhance Habitat on Gas Pipeline Rights-of-Way
DESCRIPTION:This webinar will provide a vivid example of how one company\, Enable Midstream\, elevated their vegetation management practices above and beyond standard IVM practices to provide an Integrated Habitat Management approach benefiting both wildlife and long term maintenance. Enable has found a solid conservation partner in the National Wild Turkey Federation through the Federation\’s Habitat Endorsement Program to further validate their work and accomplishments. \nPresenters:\nConnie Oslica and Donnie Earnest\, Enable Midstream Partners\, will give an overview of the Integrated Vegetation Management plan implementation\, benefits\, and challenges. \nSteve Barlow\, National Wild Turkey Federation\, will introduce the Federation’s new Habitat Endorsement Program\, which encourages energy companies to manage linear assets for wildlife habitat. \nTo register click here.

SUMMARY:CEATI International: 5th Annual Vegetation Management Conference
DESCRIPTION:The effective management of vegetation on transmission and distribution corridors is essential for providing a reliable supply of electricity and for ensuring public and worker safety. Comprehensive and effective vegetation management programs must address several issues. These programs must comply with new and emerging regulations\, meet public and landowner expectations\, and consider various environmental issues. Furthermore\, vegetation management programs involve responding to the public\, indigenous communities\, the government\, and landowner requests and concerns. At the same time\, it must also comply with NERC and other regulations in a cost-effective manner. \nA focus of the 5th Annual Vegetation Management Conference will be on the various technologies\, techniques\, and equipment that are being developed or are currently available to Vegetation Managers. SUMMARY:ROWHWG Webinar: Pollinator Habitat in Practice- Electric Cooperative Case Studies
DESCRIPTION:This webinar will present two perspectives on how rural electric cooperatives are building pollinator habitat programs into their everyday operations. \nSpeakers: \nBrad Foss\, Senior Environmental Biologist at Dairyland Power Cooperative\, coordinates Dairyland’s Pollinator Program. The program has helped Dairyland establish pollinator plots adjacent to its substations\, on a closed coal ash landfill cap\, and near 18 of its solar projects. Dairyland has also worked on the restoration a native bluff prairie. \nJosh Young\, Supervisor of Natural Resources and Environmental Communications at East Kentucky Power Cooperative\, Inc. (EKPC)\, coordinates EKPC’s partnership in the Kentucky Excellence In Environmental Leadership project\, or KY EXCEL. EKPC has been a partner in KY EXCEL since 2009\, which recognizes voluntary work done by organizations to promote environmental stewardship. In 2017 EKPC established a 1.8-acre Monarch Waystation/Pollinator Habitat at its Headquarters location and adjacent to its new Cooperative Solar Farm One generating facility. \nTo register click here.
