SUMMARY:ERC - Driving Innovation in Industrial Manufacturing: Strategic Energy Solutions with Energy Efficiency and Onsite Energy Technologies
DESCRIPTION:ERC – Driving Innovation in Industrial Manufacturing: Strategic Energy Solutions with Energy Efficiency and Onsite Energy Technologies \nMay 21\, 2025 \n11:00 AM CDT \nJoin us for a webinar on strategic energy solutions for industrial manufacturing\, a sector that faces rising energy costs\, global competition\, and sustainability challenges. As one of the largest energy consumers and emission emitters in the U.S.\, manufacturers must explore energy efficiency and onsite energy technologies to enhance competitiveness and resiliency. There is no one-size-fits-all approach—each facility requires customized strategies to identify opportunities\, barriers\, and tailored solutions. Experts from UIC’s DOE technical assistance programs will share insights on industry trends\, case studies\, and no-cost resources available to help manufacturers optimize energy use and achieve their energy and sustainability goals. \nRegister Here!

SUMMARY:Monitoring Monarch Butterflies Webinar hosted by Idaho F&G
DESCRIPTION:Idaho Fish and Game needs your help to adopt milkweed patches across the Gem State and monitor the milkweed throughout summer 2025. The survey kicks off July 1 and goes through Aug. 15. Volunteer community scientists will need to check their sites one to three times during this time frame in order to document crucial information\, like stem counts\, health of the patch itself and count butterflies. \nFish and Game manages a very broad range of wildlife\, and monarch butterflies are not exempt from these efforts. The information you collect will help the agency in any future assessments of milkweed and monarchs for any ESA listing decision. \nIf becoming a community scientist seems like it’ll add too much to your plate this summer\, don’t sweat it. Getting signed up is super easy. Fish and Game will be hosting a virtual training webinar on Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will also be a slew of online training videos and documents to review at your leisure.

SUMMARY:Protecting Water and Biodiversity through Corporate Stewardship
DESCRIPTION:Water is our most vital resource – foundational to life and the well-being of ecosystems across the globe. With more than half of the global population living within 3 kilometers of a freshwater source\, increasing pressures on these resources underscore the urgent need for responsible and innovative stewardship. While the importance of water is widely recognized\, deepening our understanding of its role in sustaining ecosystems is critical for guiding informed and sustainable decision making. \nJoin us for a dynamic discussion on how businesses are taking the lead in protecting water and biodiversity\, the two essential pillars of a healthy ecosystem. Hear from sustainability leaders at Dow and Ecolab\, as they share powerful\, real-world projects examples\, including the Loch Leven nature-based solution and Gulf Coast restoration efforts. \nDon’t miss this opportunity to explore how innovative corporate action is making a measurable impact. We’ll wrap up the webinar with a brief Q&A session to answer your questions and spark further dialogue. \nWhat you’ll learn: \n\nHow companies are mapping\, managing\, and monitoring water systems.\nImportance of engaging local communities and prioritizing environmental equity and justice.\nEnvironmental remediation with a focus on post-remediation land conservation.\n\nWho should take this webinar: \n\nCorporate sustainability representatives who want to align with natural resource management and impact.\nCommunity advocates seeking to better understand the connection between water stewardship and biodiversity.\nPrivate and public sector professionals looking for insights into nature-based solutions\, cross-sector collaboration\, and the long-term impact of responsible resource management.

DESCRIPTION:Real progress in landscape-level conservation comes from deliberate\, well-coordinated efforts. It requires navigating internal personalities\, earning community trust\, and staying committed to the work long after initial activities. In this webinar\, Amanda Young\, Senior Environmental Engineer\, Toyota Motor Manufacturing\, West Virginia\, and Jeff Musser\, Environmental Field Manager\, Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority\, share how they’ve managed dedicated conservation areas at industrial sites by focusing on four key elements: Internal dynamics\, community buy-ins\, practical implementation\, and ongoing education.  \nTheir experiences highlight how lasting conservation success depends on people as much as local ecology. Join us for grounded insights\, candid stories\, and a brief Q&A session to help you move your own efforts forward.

SUMMARY:Monarchs and Pesticides: Understanding the Risks\, Creating High-Quality Habitat
DESCRIPTION:Monarchs and Pesticides: Understanding the Risks\, Creating High-Quality Habitat \nJuly 31\, 2025 \n12:00 – 1:00 PM CT \nPesticides are a hidden hazard in many monarch conservation efforts\, whether in working lands\, parks\, backyards\, or monarch overwintering groves. Residues in milkweed and nectar plants can degrade habitat quality and put monarchs at risk. This webinar will unpack the latest science on pesticide contamination in habitat and explore how these chemicals affect butterflies directly and indirectly. Join Emily May\, Agricultural Conservation Lead with the Xerces Pesticide Reduction Program\, to discuss practical steps land managers\, farmers\, and gardeners can take to reduce exposure and support the creation of high-quality habitat for monarchs. \nLearn More!

SUMMARY:The State of the Bees
DESCRIPTION:The State of the Bees \nAugust 14\, 2025 \n12:00 – 1:00 PM CT \nHow are U.S. bee species faring in light of the major threats they are facing? What more do we need to know to protect them? There are over 3\,600 species of bees in the United States\, but we only know the conservation status of about 20% of those species. This makes it difficult to make decisions about how to prioritize bee conservation. Join Saff Killingsworth\, Xerces Endangered Species Conservation Biologist and State of the Bees Initiative\, to discuss how conservation biologists decide which bees are imperiled and which bees are safe\, highlight some interesting bees of conservation concern\, and talk about the Xerces Society’s effort to understand the conservation status of all U.S. bee species. \nLearn More!

SUMMARY:Drones in Conservation: ROW Demo
DESCRIPTION:This event is located at a US Solar site managed by Natural Resource Services. This event is designed for the energy and transporation right-of-way sector\, though all are welcome. Address will be shared directly with registrants. \nMJV will demonstrate various drone models and discuss how monitoring via remote sensing is being used on various pollinator habitat projects\, especially along rights-of-way. We will discuss how this technology could be incorporated into existing efforts (e.g.\, during transmission line inspections)\, and how to conduct surveys to align with the Nationwide Monarch Candidate Conservation Agreement with Assurances (CCAA). Flights will occur over solar panels and nearby fields\, and future training preferences and opportunities will be discussed. \nParticipants are required to wear long pants and close-toed shoes for safety.

SUMMARY:Great Southeast Pollinator Census
DESCRIPTION:Great Southeast Pollinator Census \nAugust 22-23\, 2025 \nThis project is easy enough for anyone to learn some basic entomology and participate in while at the same time ensure that useful data is generated for conservationists. \nThe three goals of the project are: \n1.     To create sustainable pollinator habitat by educating gardeners about using plants that provide nutrition for our pollinators while handling summer droughts and do not have disease or pest insect pressure. \n2.     To increase the entomological literacy of citizens. The project wants students to go from “oooo\, it’s a bug” to “look at the tarsal claw on that bee!” \n3.     To generate useful data about our pollinator populations to spot trends and see how pollinator populations are affected by weather and how honey bees influence native bee populations. \nJoin the count!
