DESCRIPTION:Ecological restoration efforts are likely to be more successful when project components are informed by relevant stakeholders. However\, key stakeholders are often not included in restoration design and deployment. This is largely driven by a lack of practitioner knowledge of and experience with stakeholder relations. In fact\, inclusion of stakeholders across the entire restoration process can be accomplished by practitioners with no formal social science training. DESCRIPTION:Take a virtual field trip locally\, traveling eastward along Highway 58 in San Luis Obispo County. The route follows a geological transect spanning tens of millions of years\, a ‘slice in time’. Reconstruct ancient shorelines of an inland sea and subsequent mountain uplift of the granitic and sedimentary rock formations along fault zones within the present day Coast Ranges. DESCRIPTION:After a century of water development under a legal framework that did not recognize nature as a legitimate water user\, the Colorado River today rarely flows to the sea\, and its 600\,000 ha delta ecosystem has been reduced to a mere 10% of its original size. Environmental NGOs from the United States and Mexico have worked together for nearly two decades to restore riparian and wetland habitats and re-establish a modest connection between the flowing Colorado River and the Upper Gulf of California\, for the benefit of nature and people. SUMMARY:Xerces: Pollinator Habitat Conservation Along Roadways Peer Exchange Meeting (READ DESCRIPTION)
DESCRIPTION:This interactive virtual workshop is intended to bring together staff from DOTs around the country\, as well as other roadside managers\, to share challenges and successes in creating and managing pollinator habitat along roadways.  \n  \nThis workshop will consist of a series of four core sessions focusing on strategies for ESA compliance\, maintenance\, revegetation\, and building partnerships\, in addition to an introductory session and a final wrap-up session. Each of the sessions will be interactive\, with opportunities for participants to share strategies that have or have not worked for them\, as well as challenges. Each of the core sessions will start with brief talks from DOT staff. \nThere\’s still plenty of space\, so please register here if you are interested in attending.
